![]() A former student of Hickman School and lifelong member of the community, Gary Acosta was approached 17 years ago to take the place of a retiring school board member. Little did he know that this would be position he would hold for nearly two decades. Mr. Acosta commented at his final board meeting that " It has been a pleasure to serve and I am proud to say that I am happy with where the district is now." Mr. Acosta was honored at Hickman Community Charter District's November meeting. We will miss you, Gary!
The Hickman Middle School students have been busy with a number of projects for Mrs. Petersen's Art Class. The 6th grade students have completed an Ancient Egyptian Portrait, 7th grade students completed a Byzantine Angel, 8th grade students are almost finished with their Early American Portraits (these are soon to be on display in the Library). All art work will eventually be sent home with the students. Look for other displays of artwork by students put up around the campus.
Come out and support our basketball players. Today at 3:30 the Warriors will take on Glick at Hickman.
This past weekend our very own Mr. Vanden Bosch was among a select few from across the nation to participate in a colloquium on Slavery and the Constitutional Republic facilitated by Dr. Gordon Lloyd of Pepperdine University. The event took place in Arlington, Virginia, and was co-sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute and Liberty Fund. Our students will benefit as Mr. Vanden Bosch implements knowledge and activities from his experience.
Gordon Lloyd is professor of public policy at Pepperdine University's School of Public Policy. He is the coauthor of four books on the American founding and numerous articles, reviews, and opinion-editorials. He is also the creator, with the help of the Ashbrook Center, of three highly regarded websites on the origin of the Constitution. |
