The partial solar eclipse is expected to occur from 9:02 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. on Monday, August 21st, with the maximum magnitude occurring at 10:17 a.m.  The school has solar eclipse viewing glasses for all students (maximum usage is 3 minutes of  continuous time) and many classrooms are doing activities surrounding this event on Monday.  Please join us in stressing to your child the importance of not staring directly at the eclipse without eye protection, as doing so may cause long-term damage to the eyes. In order to avoid students being tempted to stare at eclipse, HES students will have indoor morning recess and HMS students will not have a morning break on Monday.   Experiencing even a partial eclipse is a rare event and we are preparing for our students to get the most out of this teachable moment.
